| The
TV series The Sentinel aired on UPN from early 1996 to 1999. It was cancelled
then brought back for a short final season. It was about a police detective
named Jim Ellison (Richard Burgi) who came to discover he’d unlocked/developed
heightened senses while serving in the military. He somewhat reluctantly
paired up with a twitchy grad student named Blair Sandburg (Garret Maggart)
who, though not a police officer, helped him gain control over his special
senses. Jim became Blair’s thesis subject as he was an anthropology
major who had been researching people in the past with similar conditions
of heightened senses like Jim’s. I haven’t seen the show in
years so my apologies for the lack of detail. I do remember what an “old
married couple” like vibe the two male leads developed though ;)
